The B.Sc. Interior Design and Decoration students visited Garuda Mall, Bangalore, as part of an academic enrichment activity organized by the Prism Club. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world retail interior design practices and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. During the visit, students explored various retail outlets within the mall to understand different aspects of retail design.The students closely observed store layouts, circulation patterns, zoning of spaces, and spatial organization adopted by different brands. Special emphasis was given to studying visual merchandising techniques, including window displays, product placement, and branding strategies. Students also analyzed lighting design, color schemes, material selection, finishes, and furniture used to enhance customer experience and brand identity.Interactive observation and group discussions were encouraged throughout the visit, allowing students to critically analyze design decisions and relate them to concepts learned in the classroom. Faculty guidance helped students understand how design elements influence consumer behavior and retail functionality. Overall, the visit proved to be a valuable learning experience, enriching students’ understanding of retail interiors and strengthening their ability to apply design principles in practical, real-world scenarios.
